Anemia & Blood Disorders Center

Anemia occurs when there are too few red blood cells circulating in the blood or when the cells that are present do not contain enough hemoglobin (an oxygen-carrying protein). Other blood disorders include sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and clotting disorders include hemophilia and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).
